Sjoerd Jan ter Welle – Founder and CEO of AeroPlus Aviation Software
Sjoerd Jan is the initiator of the Aeroplus Across-Africa-Challenge. After getting his private pilots license (PPL) with instrument rating only three years ago, Sjoerd Jan quickly accumulated almost a thousand flight hours on the Piper Archer II and III, the Cirrus SR20 and SR22 Turbo and on some other aircraft.
Using is own AeroPlus flightplanning software for iPhone and/or iPad, Sjoerd Jan has flown to many exotic places like Barra, Courchevel and Corsica. After having covered most of Europe, Africa seemed a logical next step. Sjoerd Jan lives with his family in Doesburg.
Lex Versteeg – Owner of Skydeck
Lex learned to fly gliders first, over fourty years ago. After university he went to work for several large insurance and financial firms in the Netherlands, before starting his own company. After selling his company he returned to aviation. With his CPL, multi-engine and instrument ratings, Lex covered Europe and the continental USA with his Cirrus SR22 and King Air E90.
Lex is founder and owner of Leverco with its SkyDeck hangar at Teuge (EHTE), the point of departure for the AeroPlus Across-Africa-Challenge.
